Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • Saltine crackers
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Sea salt (for topping)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and arrange saltine crackers in a single layer.
  3. In a saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Stir until the mixture comes to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Pour the mixture over the crackers, spreading it evenly.
  5. Bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes, until bubbly.
  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let them sit for a few minutes to melt, then spread the chocolate evenly.
  7. If desired, sprinkle with chopped nuts and sea salt.
  8. Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.

Notes

For a deeper flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of regular. Customize with your favorite nuts or dried fruits.
