Ingredients

  • 30 saltine crackers
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Sea salt (for sprinkling)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a boil.
  4. Pour the caramel mixture over the saltine crackers, spreading it evenly.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes until bubbly.
  6. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the top.
  7. Let the chocolate sit for a couple of minutes to melt, then spread it evenly over the toffee layer.
  8. If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts and sea salt over the top.
  9. Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
