Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
- Olive oil for frying
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a shallow dish, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs.
- Dip each chicken breast in the egg, then coat it with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the chicken for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Place the fried chicken breasts in a baking dish. Top each breast with marinara sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves before serving.
Notes
For extra crispiness, fry the chicken in small batches and use store-bought marinara sauce for ease.
