Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups fresh cherries, pitted and halved
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the cherries.
- Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups. Sprinkle the tops with additional sugar.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cool for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
