This delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert blends rich mascarpone cream with sweet-tart cherries and a hint of amaretto liqueur, perfect for special occasions.
Ingredients
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup espresso, cooled
- 1/4 cup amaretto liqueur (or non-alcoholic substitute)
- 24 ladyfingers
- 1 cup sweet cherries, pitted and halved
- Cocoa powder for dusting
- Dark chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
- In another shallow dish, combine espresso and amaretto.
- Dip each ladyfinger briefly in the espresso mixture and layer them in a serving dish.
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
- Add a layer of cherries on top.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining ladyfingers, mascarpone mixture, and cherries.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 240 minutes or overnight.
- Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings.
Notes
For best flavor, use fresh cherries. Make ahead of time for improved flavor melding.
