Description
A delightful, simple breakfast combining creamy cheese and an egg on crispy, toasted bread.
Ingredients
- 2 slices bread
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup (2 oz) grated cheese (cheddar, pepper jack, or gruyere)
- 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh herbs (thyme or rosemary)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Lightly toast the bread or broil for 1 to 2 minutes on each side.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F. Adjust the cooking rack if using a toaster oven.
- Crack the egg into a small bowl and beat with a fork until combined.
- Mix in the cheese and fresh herbs, adding salt and pepper to taste.
- Spread the egg and cheese mixture over the bread, covering to the crusts. Sprinkle with cayenne if desired.
- Bake for about 10 to 12 minutes until the egg and cheese mixture is puffed and brown.
- For air fryer, preheat to 340°F, spread the mixture on untoasted bread, then air fry at 340°F for 8 to 10 minutes.
