Delightful and fresh California sushi bowls combine avocado, crab meat, and fresh vegetables over seasoned sushi rice.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sushi rice
- 1 1/4 cups water
- 1/2 pound cooked crab meat
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1 cucumber, julienned
- 1/2 carrot, shredded
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Nori sheets, cut into strips
- Soy sauce, for serving
Instructions
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit for 10 minutes.
- Mix the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small bowl until dissolved. Fold this mixture into the cooked rice while it’s still warm.
- Layer the seasoned sushi rice with crab meat, avocado, cucumber, and carrot in bowls.
- Garnish with nori strips and serve with soy sauce on the side.
