Description

A hearty Southern comfort dish featuring flaky biscuits, savory sausage, and creamy gravy, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

  • 10 oz buttermilk biscuits
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • 6 large eggs
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (divided)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 packet (2.75 oz) sausage gravy mix

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Press the biscuit dough into a greased 9×13-inch pan, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the breakfast sausage until fully cooked. Drain excess fat and layer sausage over the biscuit dough.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, salt, and pepper. Pour the mixture over the sausage layer.
  5. Sprinkle 1 cup of the shredded cheese over the egg and sausage mixture.
  6. Prepare the sausage gravy by combining the gravy mix with 2 cups of water, following package instructions. Pour it over the cheese layer.
  7. Top the casserole with the remaining cheese.
  8. Bake in the oven for about 35 minutes, until the top is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Let it rest for 10 minutes before cutting into squares to serve.
