Description
A delicious and customizable homemade pizza recipe that’s perfect for family gatherings or a cozy night in.
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup warm water (around 110°F)
- 1 can (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup sliced pepperoni (or your choice of toppings)
- Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Create a well in the center and add the warm water and olive oil. Stir until the mixture forms a rough dough.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- While the dough rises, prepare the sauce in a saucepan over medium heat by combining crushed tomatoes, oregano, garlic powder, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Spread the sauce over the dough, leaving a small border.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese generously over the sauce, followed by your chosen toppings.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and garnish with fresh basil and red pepper flakes if desired.
Notes
Use quality ingredients for the best flavor. Let the dough rise properly for a fluffy crust. Customize toppings as you like.
