Description

A delicious and customizable homemade pizza recipe that’s perfect for family gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup warm water (around 110°F)
  • 1 can (15 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup sliced pepperoni (or your choice of toppings)
  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Create a well in the center and add the warm water and olive oil. Stir until the mixture forms a rough dough.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  5. While the dough rises, prepare the sauce in a saucepan over medium heat by combining crushed tomatoes, oregano, garlic powder, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
  7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  8. Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet. Spread the sauce over the dough, leaving a small border.
  9. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese generously over the sauce, followed by your chosen toppings.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  11. Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, then slice and garnish with fresh basil and red pepper flakes if desired.

Notes

Use quality ingredients for the best flavor. Let the dough rise properly for a fluffy crust. Customize toppings as you like.
