Description

A delicious dish that combines the comforting flavors of classic French toast with the sweet and tangy goodness of mixed berries, perfect for serving a crowd.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread, cubed
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  3. Place the cubed bread in a greased baking dish and pour the egg mixture over the bread, ensuring all pieces are well coated.
  4. Fold in the mixed berries, distributing them evenly throughout the bread mixture.
  5. Cover the dish and let it sit for about 30 minutes, or refrigerate overnight to allow the bread to soak up the egg mixture.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the casserole is set and golden brown on top.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

Using slightly stale bread results in a fluffier texture. You can also experiment with different berries or add a crunch topping before baking.
