Description

Delicious BBQ chicken sliders made with tender shredded chicken, zesty barbecue sauce, smoked gouda, and sautéed onions, all in soft buns.


Ingredients

  • 12 slider buns
  • 1 pound cooked chicken, shredded
  • 1 1/2 cup barbecue sauce, divided
  • 1/2 cup cooked red onion, thinly sliced
  • 7 ounces thinly sliced smoked gouda
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped


Instructions

  1. Cook 1 pound of chicken and shred it.
  2. Sauté 1/2 cup red onion in a non-stick skillet until soft.
  3. Mix the shredded chicken with 1 cup of the barbecue sauce.
  4. Line a sheet pan with the bottom half of the slider buns.
  5. Spread the BBQ chicken mixture over each bun.
  6. Drizzle the remaining 1/2 cup barbecue sauce over the buns.
  7. Layer sautéed onions evenly over the sauce.
  8. Add smoked gouda cheese on top of the onions.
  9. Cover with the top half of the slider buns.
  10. Bake covered with foil at 350°F for 15 minutes.
  11. Brush with butter mixture and bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes.
  12. Serve warm.

Notes

Use rotisserie chicken for best flavor and convenience. Choose slider buns based on preference; gluten-free options available.
