This Baked Crunchy Hot Honey Chicken combines juicy chicken strips with a sweet and spicy kick, making it a healthier alternative to frying. Perfect for family dinners or game day!
Ingredients
- 2 lbs chicken tenders or breasts, cut into strips
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/3 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
- In a shallow bowl, mix flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika until combined.
- In a separate shallow dish, whisk together eggs and milk.
- Place panko breadcrumbs in another shallow bowl.
- Dredge each chicken strip in the flour mixture, shaking off excess. Dip into egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Then coat with panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Arrange chicken strips on prepared baking sheet. Spray tops lightly with cooking spray.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and coating is golden and crunchy.
- While chicken is baking, prepare hot honey sauce by combining honey, hot sauce, and melted butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until smooth and warmed through, then remove from heat.
- Once chicken is finished baking, remove from oven and drizzle with hot honey sauce or serve sauce on the side.
- Serve hot with additional sauce as desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate chicken in some hot sauce or buttermilk before cooking. Spray chicken strips with cooking spray before baking for a crispy coating.
