Description

This Baked Crunchy Hot Honey Chicken combines juicy chicken strips with a sweet and spicy kick, making it a healthier alternative to frying. Perfect for family dinners or game day!

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken tenders or breasts, cut into strips
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with cooking spray.
  2. In a shallow bowl, mix flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika until combined.
  3. In a separate shallow dish, whisk together eggs and milk.
  4. Place panko breadcrumbs in another shallow bowl.
  5. Dredge each chicken strip in the flour mixture, shaking off excess. Dip into egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Then coat with panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  6. Arrange chicken strips on prepared baking sheet. Spray tops lightly with cooking spray.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and coating is golden and crunchy.
  8. While chicken is baking, prepare hot honey sauce by combining honey, hot sauce, and melted butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until smooth and warmed through, then remove from heat.
  9. Once chicken is finished baking, remove from oven and drizzle with hot honey sauce or serve sauce on the side.
  10. Serve hot with additional sauce as desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate chicken in some hot sauce or buttermilk before cooking. Spray chicken strips with cooking spray before baking for a crispy coating.
