Description
A delightful fall treat that combines the sweet and tart flavors of apples with warm spices like cinnamon.
Ingredients
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup butter (melted)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 2 cups chopped apples (Pink Lady, Gala, or Honeycrisp – peeled and chopped, about 2 apples)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare an 8 x 5 inch loaf pan by greasing and flouring it or lining it with parchment paper. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and cinnamon, then set it aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and granulated sugar together until fully combined.
- Stir in the melted butter and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
- Combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt into the egg mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chopped apples.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle about three-quarters of the brown sugar mixture over the batter.
- Spread the remaining batter on top of the brown sugar layer and sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture over the top, swirling it into the batter.
- Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the bread to cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
Use fresh apples for the best flavor. Consider adding nuts or dried fruits for variations.
