Description

A soft and fluffy loaf perfect for sandwiches, toast, or enjoying with butter.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (110-120°F)
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable or canola oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, stir together the warm water, granulated sugar, and instant yeast. Allow it to sit for about 10 minutes, or until bubbles form on the surface.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook attachment, mix the flour and salt. Add the oil and the yeast mixture to the bowl. Turn the mixer to medium speed and knead the dough until it no longer sticks to the sides of the bowl, which should take about 10 minutes.
  3. Form the dough into a tight ball and transfer it to a greased bowl. Cover it with plastic wrap and place it in a warm area. Let it rise for about 60 to 90 minutes, until it has doubled in size.
  4. Deflate the dough and shape it into a log that will fit into a 9×5 loaf pan. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for another 50 to 60 minutes, until doubled in size.
  5. About 20 minutes before the second rise is complete, preheat your oven to 350°F.
  6. Once the dough has finished rising, bake it in the oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. After baking, brush the crust with melted butter and allow the loaf to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, remove it from the pan and transfer it to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Notes

Ensure to measure ingredients accurately for the best results. Use warm water to activate the yeast correctly.
