Ingredients

  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon clove
  • ½ teaspoon ginger
  • ¼ cup butter (room temperature)
  • 2 oz shortening
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 4 to 5 cups powdered sugar


Instructions

  1. Bring the water, butter, pumpkin puree, and salt to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring to combine.
  2. Remove from heat and gradually mix in the flour until thick.
  3. Beat in the egg quickly, mixing vigorously with a sturdy whisk.
  4. Transfer the batter into a pastry bag fitted with a large star or round tip.
  5. Preheat the air fryer for 5-10 minutes at 375°F.
  6. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil, then pipe the batter into shapes.
  7. Air fry for about 15-20 minutes, checking for doneness.
  8. While cooking, mix granulated sugar, cinnamon, clove, and ginger in a bowl.
  9. Remove hot churros and toss in sugar mixture to coat evenly.
